Take Care of Your Feet so You Can Keep Moving Forward

Some days it’s a struggle just to get out of bed, I know. When you need to deal with a lot of things and you don’t know which one you should do first, even standing up can seem impossible. But you need to stand on your own two feet to be able to move forward and to move forward is what will keep you on the path of healing.

Sometimes you don’t need a lot to keep moving and stay. Sometimes, you just need a little bit of self-care and attention – and where better to start than with your feet? Here’s how to take care of your feet and make yourself feel better.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!

We often pay so much attention to our skin – you probably make sure to moisturize your face, put cream on your hands and use body milk after every shower. But what do you do for your feet?

They’re also important you know, and I think they’re even more important than most other parts of your body – they’re the thing that keeps you going, and they’re under a lot of stress every day! If you’re under a lot of stress, you need some care and attention, and so do they.

You should start caring for your feet by moisturizing them as much as the rest of your body or even more.

There are many products you could choose for moisturizing your feet, like feet moisturizers, creams, lotions, baths and more. You could also get some medicated heel pads which can be gotten without a prescription – they will moisturize your feet through the entire day!

A Scrubbing a Day Keeps the Calluses Away!

Calluses can be nasty – no, I don’t mean just their looks, though that is a factor as well. No, what I mean is that they can be dangerous for your feet – they could cause pain, swelling, open wounds and more! You have to treat them if you want to able to be able to put one foot in front of the other each morning and go into the world.

Luckily, preventing and treating calluses is not that difficult. Proper hygiene and regular cleaning will prevent them just fine, as will moisturizing them regularly! But if you already have calluses and they started showing – which is the case for most people I know – scrubbing is the way to go! Just soak your feet in a relaxing foot bath for 10 to 20 minutes while you read something nice.

Once you’re done, take a foot file or a pumice stone and gently scrub away at those calluses. When you’re done apply some nice, expensive foot cream or some cocoa butter and lift your feet up in the air – they will enjoy it and so will you.

Keep Your Eyes and Nose Vigilant

Weird smells and nasty growths can be more than #justfootthings – you shouldn’t ignore such trivial problems. You wouldn’t ignore a weird smell under your armpits or a strange growth on your nose, so why ignore your feet?

Such things can be early – or late – signs of a fungal infection. Medicated sprays or powders can help fight these nasty menaces, and you should visit your doctor if you suspect you might have a problem. Don’t be ashamed – your feet will feel better once its resolved and you will be able to stand tall.

Take Care of Your Toenails

Pedicures are the best modern invention – yes, better than electricity or the internet, don’t argue with me on this. Getting one can certainly help your feet feel better but they can be hella expensive!

That’s why I started doing my own – it’s a tricky business, but it helps me feel better. If you go down this path, make sure to get some nippers with a curved handle and a curved jaw – and get it in the size that fits your nails. Trust me; it will help more than all the technique in the world.

Also, don’t forget to moisturize! Yes, even your toenails – get some vitamin E oil or some cuticle jelly and rub that stuff in over your entire nail. It will help a lot, especially with future pedicures.

Your Feet are Beautiful

Lastly, and most importantly, don’t be afraid to show off your feet and take care of them – they are a very important part of you, and they help you more than you know. They help you get through the day, and for that, they deserve a bit of recognition. More importantly, by helping them, you’ll also help yourself, and that’s probably the most important part.
